Our First Weekend in Masterton

Well, it's been an exciting month for us. Travis took a new job as the Deputy Rural Fire Manager for the Wairarapa and we have moved out to Masterton.

We made the big move this Friday and it was perfect timing as it was my last day of classes.
We are renting a beautiful house about 10k out of Masterton out in the country. It's on a lovely property that has been landscaped so well, and it is definitely like a dream come true for us. Here are some pictures of our place and the pond and olive orchard out our front door....The sun was so bright, that you really can't see the olive trees too well, but they are just in the background.
They have created this amazing walking path that covers about a kilometer around the property. It's all beautifully landscaped and walks by a few ponds and stuff...it's awesome!!
This mound of dirt will become our garden this week so we are excited about getting that started!
This is my lovely herb garden that we have been enjoying fresh mint tea and other great delicacies out of....We planted some new herbs as well and some spinach so curious to see how that goes.
This is our backyard area....We have lots of ducks and Pukeku's around as well, so that's pretty cool.

The move itself was a breeze and we have thoroughly enjoyed settling in and getting everything in order here. Our neighbors are amazing and we have been watching the big rugby games at their place over the weekend - Go The All Blacks!! Well done!!

Our neighbors own the whole property and have developed it. They are a lovely couple with two little kids that seem to be enjoying coming over to visit Travis. It's pretty entertaining....

So, now that we are settled in, we went for a nice tramp today up around Mt. Holdsworth. We have been up there before, but today we decided to just enjoy doing the nice easy tramp by the river area - Atiwhakatu Track

This was a lovely tramp and was very easy to do....Took us about 4 hr 20min all up, but that was sitting by the river for awhile and having a cuppa and a picnic....
There are several swinging bridges on this tramp, so if you aren't into this sort of thing, you have been fairly warned! The weather was amazing today, and it was so nice to be out and enjoy it! I am so happy to be finished with work (and nearly finished with school this semester). It feels like I am getting my life back a little bit more each day!

Overall, our first three days in Masterton has been amazing...Coffee on our porch, gardening, wine with good neighbors - not sure it gets any better than that!
