Castle Point Getaway

After such a busy semester, we decided we were in need of a little getaway. We booked a tiny cabin just outside of Castle Point (you may remember our trip out there in June, 2010) in Mataikona.
This is the "Little Bach" that looks out over the ocean. it was an amazing spot and a really great bach. We really enjoyed the peacefulness of being out here. Being that it's only just now spring here, there were no tourist or anyone around at this time. It was really quiet and just a lovely trip. We highly recommend this little bach for a good getaway.
We did not do much while we were out there - just explored the coastline and enjoyed not having any books to read or work do to!
While exploring the rocks for paua shells and other treasures, Travis found this baby shark that had washed up on shore. We thought it was pretty cool. You can also see on the rocks that there are tiny little baby shells growing. We had never seen anything like this before, but in a lot of areas the rocks were completely covered with tiny little shells. It was pretty neat.It was interesting how some spots on the coast were covered in massive rocks, while other spots only a few yards away were soft sand....The seascape is spectacular and ever changing - just so cool to see.
This was a really relaxing night away from home and we enjoyed walking around the castle point lighthouse the following morning. We were the only ones out that morning and had the entire lighthouse area to ourselves. It was really peaceful and relaxing. We won't post pictures of the lighthouse again, but you can go back to our June, 2010 blog if you want to be reminded of the beauty.
